Imogen Clark

Imogen Clark is an Australian singer-songwriter, hailing from the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. Her music ranges from arena-ready rock anthems to raw confessional indie pop.

Despite the myriad challenges that 2020 brought to the music industry, Imogen had a banner year - she released a critically acclaimed EP, played a sold-out livestream concert series, performed back-to-back sold-out Sydney launch shows in September, dropped a nostalgic Christmas single, and wrapped it all up with an epic First Annual Holiday Hootenanny gig with her musical mates – including Montaigne, Jack Moffitt (The Preatures), Lindsay McDougall (Frenzal Rhomb) and more.

Now the 25-year-old has kicked off 2021 with a bang, unveiling ‘Forget About London’, a brand new single and the first taste of her upcoming new EP. Penned with rising indie-pop singer-songwriter-producer Eilish Gilligan in Melbourne and recorded in LA with producer Mike Bloom (Julian Casablancas, Jenny Lewis) at the helm, the track is a Taylor Swift style breakup banger featuring a roof-raising sax solo that delivers the perfect climactic catharsis.

“In the middle of 2019, I went through a really tough breakup and was stranded in London for the aftermath. I got swept up by this guy, I was on the rebound and found myself falling for him, but in the end, he led me on and left me heartbroken.

“I came back to Australia thinking the change of scenery would help me get over it, but I couldn’t escape the now tainted memories of this romance. I walked into a writing session with Eilish Gilligan with all of this weighing me down, and we decided to write our best breakup banger.

“Writing this song really helped me put all those memories in their proper place, and now I can’t wait to get back to the UK and play this song at a gig in London when that’s possible again.”

Cutting her teeth playing in local pubs in the Blue Mountains during her teen years before taking the stage with artists like Shania Twain, Ian Moss and Willie Watson, Imogen has worked relentlessly over the past decade building up her musical chops. She has worked with Mark Lizotte (Diesel), Kasey Chambers and Jim Lauderdale and cites Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) and Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello and the Attractions) amongst her collaborators.

Released in August of last year, Imogen Clark’s The Making Of Me EP garnered widespread acclaim both in Australia and North America. Praised for its raw honesty by fans and critics, the six-track offering showcased Imogen’s powerful vocal and reflective lyrics.

The Making Of Me features a star-studded line-up with players from some of the world’s greatest rock bands – from Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) on keyboard, to Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello and the Attractions) on drums. Local artists Alex Lahey, Clare Bowen, Emma Swift, Anita Lester and more can be found across EP singles ‘Found Me’, ‘My Own Worst Enemy’, ‘The Making Of Me’, and ‘Paper Boat’.

2021 is already shaping up to be the biggest year of Imogen’s career to date, with a myriad of live dates announced for the next few months, from capital city headline shows with her band to intimate regional solo gigs and a May residency at Sydney’s Low 302 featuring unique collaborations and reimaginings of her best loved songs.
